Data Architect

Daugherty Data Architects are responsible for analysis and solution design. They act as team leads within Business Intelligence projects and mentor architects, technical team leads and software engineers in data architectural issues and best practices. Data Architects contribute on Business Intelligence Roadmaps. Candidates will have completed several BI project life-cycles.

Other necessary requirements include:

  • Strong SQL skills
  • Strong Data Analysis and Architect skills:
  • Works in a data warehouse environment, which includes data design, data integration, database architecture, metadata and reporting creation.
  • Translate business needs into long-term information architecture solution.
  • Defines designs and builds dimensional databases.
  • Responsible for developing data warehouse blueprints, evaluating hardware and software platforms and integrating systems.
  • Evaluates reusability of current data for additional analysis.
  • Conducts data quality initiative to rid system of old, unused, or duplicate data (profiling, auditing, cleansing).
  • Renews object and data models and the metadata reporting to structure the data for better management and quicker access.
  • Strong in data modeling (Normalization, Star Schema, “The Vault”)
  • Strong in data architecture (Data Warehousing, ODS, Data Marts, Staging)
  • Expertise in a (or multiple) CASE tools (ERwin, ORACLE Designer 2000, ER/Studio, etc.).
  • Exposure to integration tools (DTS, SSIS, Informatica, Data Stage, etc.)
  • Exposure to OLAP tools (Analysis Services, Cognos, BO, etc.)
  • Exposure to Reporting tools (Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, ProClarity, etc.)
Education Requirement: 4-year college degree, preferably in Computer Science or Business-related studies.

Experience Requirement: 7+ years related experience in Business Intelligence.
